Upon completion of the dermal filling procedure the patient will experience few to no side effects. A small amount of redness may arise in the treated region and the skin can possibly swell up, though these effects are generally very minimal. The patient's skin may feel somewhat swollen and tender for a few hours or days following the injection. Patients are not generally required to stay at the clinic where they received treatment for more than a few minutes following the procedure. Most people are able to return to work the same day and can continue physical activity and other sports within a few short hours. Results are typically noticed within the first 3 to 5 days following the injection of the dermal filler. Within 1 to 2 weeks the patient will begin to notice the greatest and more lasting effects of the dermal filler. Similar to Botox treatments, patients will probably want to return for additional treatments because the effects are not permanent. Most patients report having excellent and more younger looking features for anywhere from 3 to 9 months following the injection.
