Mr. Rajan Uppal is a consultant plastic surgeon who is dedicated to providing a high quality service in the area of cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery and combines highly personalised care with experience and expertise.

Mr Rajan Uppal's belief is that every single patient is unique. His team of nurses and surgeons provide an environment dedicated to giving every patient the particular results that they want. There is no fear about fully expressing yourself when you are under Mr. Uppal's care.

Born in Hillingdon, Middlesex, Rajan Uppal was raised around the town of Berkshire. His medical training was performed at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. While he was there, Mr. Uppal maintained a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including the tennis club and the rowing team. Even today, he still maintains an interest in these sports. When he qualified in 1993 in Medicine and Surgery, he received a Prize in Pharmacology from the University of London.

After he finished his junior surgical training in 1998, he was admitted as a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons. His interest in research led him to develop a new medicine that dramatically improved the healing of wounds. In 1999, the University College London presented him with a Master of Science (MSc) degree based on his stellar thesis. His work was even published as far away as the United States.

Mr. Uppal has worked in a wide variety of locations, including St. Bartholomew's Hospital, St. George's Hospital, and Guys and St Thomas' Hospital. Many top surgeons from the UK, US and Europe have been fortunate enough to work with him. His outstanding work made him a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery.

Experience Outside of UK

In order to further his understanding in his sub-specialty of Breast Cancer Reconstruction, Mr. Uppal spent three months working and living in Belgium. He also frequently travels to the US, Italy, Belgium, and France to keep up with the latest techniques.

Lecturing

Mr. Uppal is a highly sought lecturer, particularly due to the new techniques he developed for treating melanoma, which were published in the European Journal of Plastic Surgery. He regularly lectures at the Royal College of Radiologists in Sentinel, Thames Valley University, and at the Hellenic Centre.

NHS Consultant Appointment at the Heatherwood and Wexham NHS Trust

Due to the high standards that are required to become a NHS consultant, most plastic surgeons merely provide a narrow range of cosmetic surgery. However, Mr. Uppal provides treatment for breast conditions, burns, breast reconstruction, road accidents, birth defects, and skin cancers. He does this for an area of about a million people around the areas of Ascot, Reading, Slough, and Windsor.

The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS); the Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery (FRCS Plast); the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS); the Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS Ed); and the International Confederation of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS).
